What is Benfotamine?

What is Benfotiamine? Benfotiamine is a synthetic B1, and Benfotiamine is a fat-soluble vitamin B1. Vitamin B1 itself is naturally water-soluble. Vitamin B1 plays a role in the mitochondrial engine involved in glucose metabolism. The more glucose you have in your machine, the higher your blood sugar will be and the lower your vitamin B1 will be.

Dr. Berg's opinion about benfotiamine

This is one of the only synthetic vitamins I like because it has virtually no side effects. I believe every diabetic should take benfotiamine.

The effects of benfotiamine on diabetic patients

With diabetes, there are four main tissues involved, and B1 can help with all of them:

1. Nerves/brain - Neuropathy 2. Eyes - Retina 3. Kidney - Nephron 4. Heart vessels - Microvascular endothelial dysfunction

Benfotiamine:

• 3-5x more absorption

• Protects against oxidation and AGEs

• Decreases A1C

• Protection

When it comes to benfotiamine dosage, consider taking at least 600mg of benfotiamine per day, and you can spread it out. You should also be doing healthy keto and intermittent fasting.

Thiamine, as a water-soluble vitamin, plays a crucial purpose in the metabolism of energy, making it an essential component of the diet. The protective effects of thiamine against diabetic vascular problems have been well documented. However, delayed absorption and decreased bioavailability are major limiting factors for its clinical use. To overcome this issue, lipid-soluble thiamine derivatives (allithiamines) were developed. Among the many synthetic lipophilic products of thiamine, benfotiamine (BFT) is regarded as the first choice based on its safety and clinical efficacy studies[۱] .

High-dose benfotiamine (up to 600 mg/day) has been shown in short-term studies (3–12 weeks) to improve symptom scores in diabetic polyneuropathy[۲][۳]

. Benfotiamine blocks several hyperglycemia‐induced pathways of tissue damage in the retina and causes a reduction in superoxide productionBenfotiamine blocks three major pathways of hyperglycemic damage and prevents experimental diabetic retinopathy </ref.

Benfotiamine has direct antioxidant properties as well[۴]. It has been shown that treatment with benfotiamine avoids functional and structural changes in the retina. Benfotiamine has been demonstrated that benfotiamine protects against non-diabetic vascular damageخطای یادکرد: برچسب تمام‌کنندهٔ </ref> برای برچسب <ref> پیدا نشد

Therefore, by affecting oxidative stress, a common pathogenetic pathway, benfotiamine might potentially prevent multiple chronic diabetes problems(8 [۵].
